Industrial Plastics has a separate division for acrylic and polycarbonate fabrication and can provide one off samples or runs of thousands.
Polycarbonate is commonly referred to generically as “lexan”.
It has a much greater impact resistance than acrylic, along with self
extinguishing properties and is commonly used in commercial light boxes,
elevator light diffusers and club facilities where “tough love” may be
experienced and patrons may need to be protected from their own actions.
Industrial Plastics recommends the use of UV2 rated polycarbonate that
incorporates a layer of acrylic on the surface of the polycarbonate and with it
the UV protection this affords
